1Will I learn self-defense?
Yes, another positive “side effect” to Kickboxing Keene’s classes is that you will also learn important self-defense techniques, a fitness perk that not many workouts can boast! You will learn powerful punches, kicks, knees and elbow strikes, all of which eventually become muscle memory. These can be transferred to practical self-defense applications should the need arise.
2Will I have to fight or spar in class?
No, there is no person to person contact, no sparring and no combat. The punching and kicking combinations are done on the heavy bag.
3Do I need boxing gloves?
Yes, we require boxing gloves to protect your hands and wrists. Our introductory offer, “2 classes for $20,” includes a brand new pair of boxing gloves, in addition to the first your first two classes.
4What kind of shoes should I wear?
We recommend you do the work out bare-footed for the safest and easiest movement on the mat. This helps you achieve a full rotation when needed, to execute your kicks and punches accurately and safely. If you’re uncomfortable in your bare feet, it’s also fine to wear socks.
5What if I’m out of shape / over weight / have no experience?
Come to class! All of our workouts can be modified in either direction, based on the individual. One person might do 25 pushups, but another might do 2 pushups. You can always punch and kick with less power or less speed. Likewise, the better shape you’re in, the harder you will push yourself to reach the next level. I always tell my students, that no matter where you are on the fitness spectrum, we all feel the same way (exhausted!).
6If I sign up for classes, can I apply the $20 I paid for the first 2 classes?
Yes, you would apply the $20 toward any program you sign up for.
7What if I take my first 2 classes and decide not to sign up?
You walk away with a new pair of boxing gloves and continue to regret that you didn’t come back for more….
